Decorating a house isn’t an easy task. Not only do you have suggestions from well-meaning friends and family members pouring in on you, there are “interior design trends of the year” that give you sleepless nights. So many rules, so many guidelines -which ones do you follow? Which ones do you ignore?
But as they say rules are meant to be broken and it’s high time you actually overlooked some of the more common ones you come across every day. Read on.
Rule #1: Match colours in a room
There’s no need for you to have a wall, drapes, bed linen and furniture to be of the same colour. Can you imagine completely dressing up in orange? Then why put your living spaces through that torture?
Rule #2: Don’t mix new with the old
It’s great to mix and match the old with the new. It gives depth to the overall look of your space. For instance, a vintage mirror can instantly add a regal feeling to the room. So, go ahead and don’t let anything stop you from experimenting
Rule #3: Every room should have a theme
No. Your house is your paradise, not a circus with different themes. Of course, every room should have its look and feel. But that doesn’t mean that you go overboard with the colour and decorative accessories.
