New Year, New Look: 2019 Décor Trends to Give Your Home a Facelift

New years are always about new beginnings – a chance to start things afresh and experiments with new things. Every new year ushers in new trends; 2019 is no different. Designers and interior decorators – both Indian and international – have predicted changes that are likely to sweep through the home décor industry. And we’re really excited to share these latest fads with you.

Neutrals Give Way to Vibrant Hues

With Pantone having selected UltraViolet as the Color of the Year, neutral shades are giving way to bolder, more vivid tones from the other end of the spectrum, like rich amethyst, emerald green, mustard yellow, indigo, and of course, dark shades of purple.

This is not to say that neutrals are dying out altogether. The bold shades are going to be used to create visual interest in an otherwise neutral room. Furniture, area rugs, lamps, art, cushions, and accessories in strong colors will be used to add a sense of intrigue to a living space.

Wallpapers are Back

Patterned wallpapers have always been reflective of individuality and unique style, but they’re also a great way to add texture and warmth to a room. But before you dismiss them altogether, let us quickly assure you that modern wallpapers are poles apart from what our grandmothers and great-grandmothers used in their homes. There are several boutique companies that are producing really cool wallpapers with unique motifs and designs. When used in small spaces like entryways or powder rooms, they are able to create a huge impact.

Designers are also noticing a growing interest in textural wallpapers like vinyl, grasscloth, and silk. There’s also demand for elaborate hand-painted wallpapers, specifically used for accent walls or entire living rooms.

Marble – this timelessly beautiful and elegant stone has been around for centuries. In home décor, its usage has generally been limited to flooring, kitchen countertops, and backsplash. But now, this gorgeous stone is breaking free of these traditional applications and making an appearance in furniture as well, particularly coffee table, side tables, and center table tops.

If the extravagant use of this stone is not your style, you could also embrace smaller touches by bringing in marble accessories, like wall clocks, vases, table lamps, dinner plates, and mirrors. It’s the easiest way to bring a luxe and layered look to your home.

Make a Floor-Ishing Statement

According to experts, one of the biggest trends we’re likely to see in home décor is a rise in statement flooring. If you’re looking to make a high impact with the least amount of fuss and clutter, statement floors are the way to go. Bathrooms and laundry rooms, especially, will benefit from them, and you could choose from geometric tiles in bold colors to herringbone-style hardwoods in light shades.

The only downside to this trend is that revamping your floors is neither easy nor inexpensive. Also, you don’t have the option of switching them out for another option, should you get bored of it. So decorators are urging homeowners to err on the side of caution and choose an option that will stay with them for many years to come.

There you have it – the top trends that are on their way to becoming hot favorites with decorators this year. Which of these do you plan to use to deck up your homes? Let us know in the comments section below – we’d love to see how your home transforms under their magical touch.
