Winter weddings invoke images of chattering teeth, indoor photo sessions, and gloomy grey weather. The dipping mercury decides your trousseau and you are left wondering if you’ll be able to carry off that low back blouse or that gorgeous lace gown without freezing to death.
But before you write off fall-winter weddings for good, take a look at the nuptials these four celebrity couples planned for themselves. They embraced the nippy weather and channeled it into majestic ceremonies. From beautiful snowy fêtes to fairytale forest ceremonies, their beautiful weddings have inspired couples and left them swooning in desire.
Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma
Captain of the Indian cricket team Virat Kohli and actress Anushka Sharma finally got hitched in a hush-hush affair in Italy. Sabyasachi Mukherjee designed the wardrobe for both the bride and groom and the results were nothing short of stunning. Virat, dressed in an ivory raw silk sherwani hand-embroidered in a vintage Benarasi pattern, looked dashing and charming. And Anushka looked positively divine decked up in a pastel pink lehenga with renaissance embroidery in vintage English colors, embellished with silver-gold metal thread, pearls, and beads.
Virat and Anushka have given couples some serious relationship goals and we can bet that more and more brides are going to be seen donning a pale pink lehenga on their special day.
Sagarika Ghatge who rose to fame after ‘Chak De! India’ and Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan exchanged their nuptial vows at the cricketer’s Lower Parel residence in Mumbai in November 2017. As the ceremony was a private affair, therefore only family and close friends were invited.
The couple tied the knot in a low-key ceremony where the bride was seen clad in a traditional red saree, and the groom was dressed in a pale pink kurta. The hush-hush affair was followed by consecutive star-studded wedding parties, which saw celebrities from the film fraternity and cricket world in attendance.
Amrita Puri and Imrun SethiWhen the wedding bells rang for actress Amrita Puri of ‘Aisha’ and her long-time restaurateur beau Imrun Sethi in November last year, they decided to go for an intimate destination wedding in Bangkok. Amrita looked ethereal in a gorgeous light peach lehenga, and the color of her wedding ensemble was in line with the pink floral theme of the wedding that went by the tagline, ‘Eat Drink Love’. The groom, on the other hand, looked suave in a classic cream sherwani and a lime green turban. However, it was Amrita’s bridal Kundan jewelry that stole the show.
Surveen Chawla, the ‘Hate Story 2’ actress, took everyone by surprise when she tied the knot in a hush-hush ceremony in Italy. The actress took to Twitter for sharing a romantic picture with her groom Akshay Thakker. Thanks to the series of images that surfaced online, we saw glimpses of the bride looking ethereal in a white gown befitting a fairytale princess. The groom looked every bit her prince charming dressed in a dapper black tux complete with a bow tie.
After the wedding, Surveen shared a picture with her hubby captioned with a poetic verse from Shakespeare that read, “One half of me is yours, the other half yours, Mine own, I would say; but if mine, then yours, and so all yours.”
